During the last few days of the winter cleaning of the workshop, I found it in one of my hatboxes. I had sewed it before it before someone could call me a “hatter”. It all started in 2002, when I got my first block but at this time I had no idea how to transform a plane into a three dimensional object, (neither did I know that the hats were made from a felt hat body). So I copied the pattern from the block and placed it on a jean fabric that I had bought in a Pontejos shop, which was selling off their products during sale time.
It is hand-made and has my size (58). In fact, I have worn it on several occasions…
It was one of the projects I presented to Charo Iglesias on the day she interviewed me for her workshop. The expression on her face when I showed my “rag” was one of the reasons that motivated me to become a hatter, in addition to my passion for hats and the desire to better myself.
