En tiempos de crisis, todos conocemos a alguien que decide, o se ve obligado, a cambiar su rumbo profesional y por ejemplo, se pone a hacer tocados…

En otra onda, pero al hilo de esta realidad, leo aquí, que la extravagante cantante Lady Gaga va a diseñar tocados. A la vista del inteligente significado que para ella tienen los sombreros, estoy segura de que no serán discretos ni ponibles:

«El sombrero es una bonita barrera. Cuanto más grande, más bonito«

«Me ayuda a mantener alejado al demonio. Me encanta lucir un sombrero lo suficientemente grande para mantener lejos de mí a la gente en fiestas pretenciosas».

«Todo ocurrió muy rápido para mí. De repente todo el mundo me estaba mirando y yo sólo quería ponerme un sombrero gigante para protegerme«

In crisis time, we all know of someone who decides or is forced to change his or her professional course and, for instance, s/he starts to make hats.

Following this thread but with other meaning, I’ve read on this web that the outrageous singer Lady Gaga is going to design hats. Bearing in mind the intelligent meaning they have for her, I’m entirely sure that they won’t be discreet nor wearable.

A cold night we decide to go out and wear a hat. We go to a restaurant or a coffee shop. If we go on foot, there is no problem because hats are on our heads so we are wrapped up warm. If we go by car, the situation is getting complicated but there is always a free place for putting it, on the rear shelf or on the seat (see the comment below). By bus or underground we fry wearing it, so we can take it by the brim.
We have passed the test until here but… what happens when we arrive to our destination? We take off our coat, scarf, gloves… but where should I put the hat? After analyzing the situation in Spain, I have realized that we keep our hat on or in our hands until we have placed the other accessories. The first thing about which we think is put it face-down on a free chair.

Una noche fría, nos decidimos a salir con sombrero, nos dirigimos a un restaurante o a un café; si es a pie, no hay problema, el sombrero sobre nuestras cabezas, bien abrigados; si optamos por el coche, la cosa se complica, pero siempre hay sitio para tirarlo en la bandeja o en un asiento (ver comentario más abajo). En metro o autobús, nos achicharramos con él puesto, o lo llevamos cogido por el borde el ala.

El camino: más o menos prueba superada.

Pero…¿y al llegar al punto de destino? nos quitamos el abrigo, bufanda, guantes…¿y dónde dejo el sombrero? Por lo que me he estado fijando: en España, solemos seguir con el sombrero en la cabeza o en la mano, hasta que hemos dejado el resto de accesorios colocados, y lo primero que se nos ocurre es depositarlo boca abajo en una silla libre

1. This is little hygienic.
2. We run the risk that someone sits down on it or
3. the waiter spills any liquid accidentally and ruins our hat.

En mi opinión:

me parece poco higiénico;
corremos el peligro de que alguien se siente;
o que el camarero vierta por descuido algún líquido y nos deje el sombrero para tirar a la basura…

If our fanaticism is excessive, we will surely choose the restaurant depending on if it has or not a piece of furniture to keep it safe.

Si nuestro sombrerismo llega a la exageración… seguro que escogemos nuestro restaurante en función de si tiene o no mueble para dejar el sombrero…

If we have dinner at our friends’ home, one option will be to leave it on our coat. It is a a safe place so that nobody will put his coat on and ruin ours. If they love hats as much as we do, they will have a hand stand or individual hanger made of metal or glass, like these I own.

At a party, the host could improvise a hat stand or offer their guests hat boxes.

Si la cena es en casa de amigos, una opción es dejar el sombrero encima de nuestro abrigo en un sitio seguro para que a nadie se le ocurra echar su abrigo encima y chafárnoslo. Si son amigos del sombrero, seguro que disponen de un perchero adhoc o de ganchos individuales, como estos míos, de metal y cristal.

Note:

At first glance, this last photo could be criticized since s/he has left the hat face-down; but we cannot see that there is paper inside the crown to keep it over the surface. Moreover, I have left the down-part of the brim away from the balancing point.

Nota:

A simple vista esta última foto es criticable,

porque he dejado el sombrero boca abajo;

lo que no se ve es que hay papel dentro de la copa para dejarlo suspendido, y además he colocado la parte baja del ala fuera del punto de apoyo.

Tips:

As a general rule, if we have to leave our hat on a surface (table, bed, sofa…), we should put it face-up, leaning on the crown.

Don’t take it exactly by the brim rim, but take it more inside.

The hanger’s option is temporary because if we leave it there for a long time, the crown will get damaged.

Consejos:

Por regla general, si tenemos que dejar el sombrero sobre una superficie (mesa, cama, sillón…), colocarlo boca arriba, apoyado sobre la copa.

No llevarlo cogido por el borde mismo del ala, si no sujetándolo más adentro.

La opción del gancho es temporal, porque si lo dejamos mucho tiempo, acaba deformándose la copa.

«La señora sale, y entra en casa, tocada«

Aunque la regla dice que las señoras no deberían destocarse, he querido traer a consombrero esta idea de colgador improvisado (para el banquete de una boda).
